7 Powerful Affirmations That Changed My Life
These 7 powerful affirmations help you feel empowered, more confident, and grounded while keeping your doubts and fears at bay.
Affirmations are a part of my healing practice. However, it depends on what mind-set I am in, and what I need to tell myself.
Sometimes, soothing, loving affirmations work like a balm for my soul. And then there are powerful affirmations like the ones I am sharing here. They remind me how powerful, strong, and capable I am while knowing I am always supported and protected.
As a person who grew up feeling very anxious, negative thoughts were my constant companions. I often found myself feeling this irrational fear, which then perpetuated the cycle of anxiety, doubt, uncertainty, and a lack of clarity.
Although there was more to my anxiety than just fearful thoughts which required deeper healing and self-examination, I knew that whatever I was telling myself wasn’t helping.
I decided to develop a simple practice and created these 7 powerful affirmations to tell myself out loud or as a mantra.
The practice is simple.
First, I do a few rounds of Nadi Shuddhi, a powerful pranayama exercise (breathing exercise) to calm my nervous system while bringing it to balance. You can learn this practice here.
Then, with my eyes closed or while standing in front of the mirror, I would repeat some or all of these 7 powerful affirmations.
7 powerful affirmations to make you feel empowered and grounded
“I am so much more than what I am going through.”
This affirmation helps me when I feel defeated. It is a quote I found a while ago and adopted as one of my powerful affirmations.
“My past doesn’t define my future because I am the master of my destiny. I choose to build the future of my dreams, and there is nothing I will allow to stop me.”
Sometimes, I find myself going back to my past while unconsciously using it as a prediction of my future.
If we don’t pay attention to our subconscious mind, it will only repeat what it knows. Therefore, I use this affirmation as a reminder that what happened is done, and what is ahead of me is a million possibilities.
“My healing is non-negotiable.”
This is a favorite of all my powerful affirmations. It’s clear, to the point, and confident.
I use this affirmation when I find myself in doubt, fear setting a boundary, or want to go against my needs and values.
I look at the situation and ask myself,
“What part of me wants to proceed? What is pushing me to do something I am not comfortable doing?”
Then I reevaluate the situation and say the affirmation 3 times.
“My life is in my hands, and there is a divine power watching over me. I can settle down now and relax. All is well.”
This affirmation ensures me that I can create my life the way I want and reminds me that I am the one who makes my choices.
It also reminds me that there is something much bigger than myself and that letting my hands off the steering wheel is okay.
“Although I can’t control what is happening outside of me, I can fully control what is happening inside of me, and that’s where my power is.”
This affirmation is one of the most common I remind my clients (and myself) of. There is so much power in our hands if we direct the focus towards what we can control – ourselves.
Out of all my powerful affirmations, this one always calms me down and grounds me. Especially when my emotions of fear and resentment get the best of me, this statement helps me remain conscious of the situation.
“Although my fears feel real, I choose to confront them and grow through them. There is nothing I cannot face and overcome.”
This affirmation always reminds me that my fears and worries are a product of my mind. It also allows me to step back while asking myself,
What is this fear trying to tell me? What am I afraid of?
I find this examination of my fears quite important since I don’t want to be stopped by them. Fear can feel paralyzing. Therefore, if we want to overcome it, we look right at it. The moment we do that, the fear begins to shrink.
“I am grateful for all that I have been through. Whether good or bad, hard or easy, bitter or sweet, because it made me who I am today, and this is something no one can or ever will take away from me.”
This last affirmation always reminds me to look for the lesson in anything I am dealing with.
It’s easy to get consumed by what is happening around us when things are hard. Therefore, turning inward and using the power of our thoughts and perceptions to seek lessons is one of the best ways to empower ourselves and keep going.
Which one of these powerful affirmations is your favorite? Feel free to share it in the comment section below.

I am so much more than what I am going through!
Yes!!! 🙏
Thank you for not having hundreds of distracting pop up ads. It’s gotten to the point that I don’t read blogs, websites anymore because it’s not even enjoyable!
Glad you are enjoying the site, Lesley.
